In 1980, the north country of San Diego supported a Nazi. Tom Metzger was the Democratic nominee for congress in the district then numbered 43. Though he lost in a landslide, the support for him was still scary. He received 46,361 votes out of 345,176, or 13.4%. That means that 10%+ of San Diego's North County residents actually wanted the leader of the White Aryan Resistance to represent them in Congress. Not only that, but Metzger ran for the senate nomination and received 76,502 votes.

Anyone who says that racism is not still prevalent in America needs to look at our recent history.

Also, in Louisiana (my former home), David Duke was a prominent political figure while also serving as National Director of the KKK. He ran for senate in 1990:
Duke received 43.51% (607,391 votes) of the vote to Johnston's 53.93% (752,902 votes), and, according to exit polls, Duke received more than 60% of the white vote.
He ran for governor in 1991, his opponent received 1,057,031 votes (61.2%). Duke's 671,009 votes represented 38.8% of the total. Duke claimed victory, saying: "I won my constituency. I won 55% of the white vote."

I guarantee that every single one of those voters is on the TEA party bandwagon. I am against Obamacare and most of the the Democrats do, but the claims of racism by the left are largely true. Glenn Beck has just made it more mainstream.
