First it was the largest-ever monthly deficit in February and now it's his approval rating which hit a Gallup record low of 46%.

Companies across Europe are hoarding permits to produce greenhouse gas emissions worth hundreds of millions of pounds, the Guardian can reveal.

The surplus credits have been amassed from over-allocation of permits to pollute from the European emissions trading scheme, and by buying cheap credits from carbon-cutting projects in developing countries and holding on to their more expensive official EU allowances.

The saved permits can be used to meet future targets to cut the greenhouse gas emissions blamed for global warming and climate change without actually reducing pollution, or sold for a profit in the future.

Time and time again they have been told that Cap and Trade would foster abuse throughout the system. It's as though it was set up to do so. The companies that have hoarded the cheap carbon credits will continue to emit at maximum output till they run out of credits. The climate data that got us to this point has been manipulated, how about the CO2 measurements? Will they be manipulated for dollars too? If the U.N. is in charge of implementing the measuring, it's a safe bet reports of least emissions will go to the highest bidder al la "Oil for Food" scandal style. Anyone remember the oil price manipulation by speculators that drove gasoline prices to near $5.99 a gallon? If the U.S. signs on for Cap and Trade, you'll see the same market volatility in everything you buy.

So far the U.S. Congress is giving the finger to the ETS system and developing a reduction plan nationally. That's a good thing. Alright, so here we have this huge ass communist country, with the world's largest army, that doesn't and never has given a rat's ass about human rights. And that is even when considering that rat's asses are considered a delicacy there. And they are even getting worse about it.

So, what do we do? Do we distance ourselves? Revoke most-favored nation trading status? Noooooo.

In order to keep spending ourselves silly like a bunch of sorority girls trying to impress the gals across the street, and to keep fighting improper wars, and to keep trying to prop up every lamebrain act of violence that our allies perpetrate, we need debt, man, debt! And who else would finance it, but the trillion or so Chinese? Where else are they gonna put their money?

So let's buy all of our crap from there, plus more and more of our nice stuff, and send a whole lot of dollars there, so they can buy all our t-bills from us. Except that they do so in ever-decreasing amounts while we buy more and more of their, errr, crap.

Now just imagine a world where the US spent within its budget. We would have the ability to give Chinese the figurative finger. Tell them we can make our own laundry baskets and shoes and electronics. And not sell all of our t-bills to them. And our dollar would be stronger. So we wouldn't shiver whenever the (*)(*)(*)(*)ed Chinese say things about how they need to move away from relying on the dollar.
