Does anyone think that the republicans took a fall in the 08 presidential election. Maybe they realized that they should not win, after 8 years of Bush. Maybe they thought that they would be far worse for them to win and have a mediocre 4 years (like what Obama will probably have) then for them to lose and try again.
I mean, the Democrats put up a publicity rock star (Obama) and the Republicans put up...McCain...who isn't the best at drumming up excitement. Then...and I know some people really like her...they put Palin with him. And Palin hurt the ticket. I mean, i actually think McCain is probably a fairly nice guy, and Palin is also probably very likable as a person (though I like to make fun of her), but they were no response to Obama. If the Republicans really wanted to secure their base and attract some moderates, they should have stuck to what worked for them in the past. Rich, White, Male.
Just my opinion. I think they didn't want to win in 08.
